The Caledonia City Council decided the fate of a nearly totaled squad car in the aftermath of a winter crash, and it resulted in a new vehicle for the Police Department.

According to City Administrator Jake Dickson, an April “incident” involved a Police Department squad car, a 2016 Ford Explorer with 114,967 miles on it, as it “received damage in a snow related crash.” In a staff report, submitted to the council by Dickson on June 12, it was “a single vehicle crash, and nobody was hurt.” Following the crash, insurance adjusters were contacted, who later concluded “the repairs exceeded the actual cash value and the vehicle was totaled.”
